Purpose of the conference

The aim of the conference is to create an interdisciplinary platform for the exchange of knowledge among scientists working on various aspects of virology—from basic research, through translational research, to clinical and veterinary applications. The meeting will provide an opportunity to present the latest research findings and to discuss current challenges related to viral diseases in humans and animals.

The conference also aims to strengthen cooperation between research centres, support the development of new research directions on viral pathogens, and foster integration within the virology research community. An important element of the event will also be creating a space for young scientists to present their research findings.

Conference Topics

The conference will cover topics in basic virology, including the biology of viruses, their replication mechanisms, virus-host interactions, and the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of viral infections. Issues related to the diagnosis of viral infections, their clinical course, and the monitoring of viral spread in the population—including the emergence of new variants—will also be addressed.

Research on the development of antiviral drugs and vaccines will also be a key part of the conference, covering the identification of new therapeutic targets and the development of strategies for the prevention and treatment of viral diseases. The program also includes presentations on veterinary virology, focusing on viral infections in animals and their significance for animal health and public health, including in the context of zoonotic diseases.
